Nepal is known as the country of festivals because each day in any part of the country the celebration always goes. Here are more than 50 festivals celebrated in Nepal every year. While the national festivals have fixed dates, religious festivals are set by astrologers following the lunar calendar. The best part about the festivals in Nepal is that all the events are celebrated with the same enthusiasm and galore the way it used to be hundreds of years ago when people had no other means of entertainment. The most important festivals are New Year, Lhosar (Tibetan New Year), Saraswati Puja, Shivaratri (Maha Shivaratri, Holi, Ghode Jatra (Festival of Horses), Buddha Jayanti, Gai Jatra (Cow Festival), Krishna Janmastami, Teej, Indra Jatra,  Dashain , Tihar, Teej, and many more. The dashain festival is run for 10 days but last five days are important days . Tihar also important as well; it is a light festival with candle and oil lamp. Most of people they will back from job and celebrate it in their home.

We highly  invite you to our home during Dashain and Tihar. It will be an experience that you won't forget! After the ceremony, you will receive so much respect from Nepai's .  Everybody will ask you where you got  Tika, purple flowers, and flower leis when you walk in the cities back after celebration in the villages..

Dashain is the most important festival among Nepalis. The entire population of Nepal celebrates the festival that falls between mid September to mid October. Nepalis celebrate Dashai by buying new clothes, eating good food and visiting family members. Card games are very popular during this time. Various fairs and celebration events are organized during the Dashain fortnight in both villages and cities. The first nine days of Dashain are called Nawa Ratri when tantric rites are conducted. In Nepal the life force is embodied in the divine energy and power of the female, depicted as goddess Durga in her many forms. All goddess who emanated from goddess Durga are known as devis, each with different aspects and powers. In most mother goddess temples the deity is represented simply as a sacred Kalash, carved water jug or multiple handed goddess holding murderous weapons. During these nine days people pay their homage to the goddess. If she is properly worshiped and pleased good fortunes are on the way and if angered through neglect then misfortunes are around the corner. Mother goddess is the source of life and everything. It is not only the longest festival but also the most anticipated one among all the festivals of Nepal.

Tihar (deepawali) has 5 days to celebrate and important of each days. For the first day it called-Kag Tihar,Kag means crow worship and feeds to crow. For the second day called Kookoor Tihar,Kookor means dog like same people worship and feed to dog. Third day its important called Gai or Laxmi Tihar,Gai means cow.In Hindu religious people believe cow is goddess and mother as well,on that day people will worship to both cow in the morning and Goddess in the evening and mainly people light on this day in the evening to welcome her.For the fourth day, people celebrate on their cast and culture. Some people also worship ox and some people will celebrate on their own ethics, like on Newari (local people ofKathmandu) celebrate as a 'Mha Pooja'.
